Also, where taking any action in relation to claiming the prize or other equivalent benefit is subject to the consumer paying money or incurring a cost.

False lottery

Jose is overjoyed to receive an official-looking letter in the post that says he's won the lottery. However, there is, in fact, no prize and the company simply pockets his €1 000. He's never able to track them down.

This is an increasingly common scam.
